About this Content OER
The MIau.nrw project has developed practical Moodle course templates that provide an easy introduction to the world of adaptive learning. The use of adaptive methods with board tools can be implemented in three different levels of complexity - depending on the target group, didactic requirements and previous technical experience. The more complex the branches and the more diverse and multimedia-based the learning content can be mapped, the more personalized learning can be supported.
- Level 1: Learning Nugget - Short learning unit with adaptive content
The basic structure of a simple and short adaptive learning unit with a branch consists of three elements: Knowledge content, competence query and alternative knowledge content. If the test result is inadequate, the competency test activates the alternative knowledge content.
- Level 2: Extended course structure with adaptive content
The extended course structure consists of a sequential series of several learning units with intermediate tests. The test must be passed to unlock the next learning unit. If a test is not passed, there is one adaptive knowledge content per learning unit. A further test attempt can then be started.
Level 3: Free learning path design with adaptive learning paths
In addition to a sequential and deterministic learning path design, adaptive courses can also offer more freedom, inviting learners to explore knowledge content in their own order. The central element for orientation in the course can be a test (question compass), which links recommendations for corresponding learning paths or learning units depending on the answers.
The course templates and demos provided support teachers in gradually getting started with adaptive course design and using it specifically for personalized teaching. All templates can be adapted and expanded as required.
